[Raven enters Horst's room without bothering to knock. She walks to him and seemingly on a whim pulls him into her embrace. But maybe she just knows that's what he needs right now.]

[It takes a second or two for him to respond, but then he holds onto her tight.

He didn't cry when Johannes left, but right now.... There's just the faintest sob.]

[And she's holding onto him just as tightly, as if it were the only thing that mattered. She threads her fingers through his hair and kisses his temple.]

Of course you do, silly. What kind of friend would you be if you didn't?

[And she senses Merlin was so much more than that to Horst. She doesn't care if she doesn't know exactly what that "so much more" entails.]

To me... the hardest part is not being given the opportunity to say goodbye properly. But each time someone I knew has left, I do it anyway. My words may not reach them but maybe my feelings do.

[And that's what she's doing right then with Horst right now. Saying goodbye to Merlin.]

[Horst himself doesn't really know what the 'more' is. He never let himself think about it, and he's not going to start now.

All he knows is there is nothing he wouldn't have done for Merlin...and it amounts to nothing.]

[He truly sounds heartbroken. Maybe because he never told Merlin how much it meant to him. But Raven is sure Merlin knew it anyway.]

[He hadn't been aware he was crying--he's too out of it, really--but that makes him pull her closer. It's not good to be as panicked as he is right now; he never reacts the way he wants himself to.

Instead of laughing this off--which wouldn't be a good way to deal, either--he just brushes his lips against her throat.]

[Trust Horst to ask for the only thing she can't promise to him, no matter how much she'd like to. He knows she wants to return to her own world but that doesn't mean it'll be easy to leave any of the people she's come close to here. Including Horst of course. But there is one thing she wants to believe in and that she can tell him.]
