[Horst is sitting on the wall, and he lies back and sets the PCD down behind him. It can catch sight of the moon overhead and, sometimes, Horst's hands. Sewing.]

You know, it's summer and I'm sleeping quite a bit more--consider it my hibernation period. But that's really not much of an excuse not to get to know all these newcomers, especially with so many people leaving....

I'm Horst Cabal. I run a bar, sometimes. I'm going to start a school--everyone is welcome to attend or teach a class.

[Horst's voice is quiet, deliberately so, and he doesn't answer right away because he challenges himself with giving Yuca a hickey without cutting him with his fangs. It almost works, and he licks the very tiny nick he made.]

[When he realizes what Horst is about to do, Yuca lets out a small murmur of protest (he'll have to wear the priest collar for a few days now), trying to reach out and nudge him away- but all he does is meet Horst's skin because the bastard isn't wearing a shirt, and it's so cold and soft that he isn't quite sure what to do with it.]

Really? Me too. [Perfectly straight face, but his eyes are playful. He seems to be behaving himself, except for the fact his hand is slowly unbuttoning Yuca's shirt, then rebuttoning, then unbuttoning.]

I didn't say they were scaring you off, just that they weren't attractive.

[Raising his hand to touch Horst's wrist gently, a silent request to stop.]

[He smiles slightly and obeys, instead leaning back against the wall.]

[They've gone over this before. He sighs in light annoyance.]

[They have; this time, though, Horst is mostly thinking of himself. Now that he has his soul back he has to wonder how long it will take before he's either just like the other vampires...or just like Yuca.]

On a serious note...do you think the Animus were always here? Or do you think they were somehow created?

True. I guess what I'm asking is...do you think they were once human? Or perhaps engineered by humans, as tools?

It strikes me that so many of their events make sense on a very basic, human level.

What do you mean by that? That their events make sense?

Well...they are random. But most of them seem geared to human experiences, human symbols, even though we've had cyborgs, vampires, and aliens.

Like the event where we were all afflicted with Sins or Virtues; everyone fit neatly into those fourteen traits, did you notice? Even though some species have no concept of such things.
