You know, it's summer and I'm sleeping quite a bit more--consider it my hibernation period. But that's really not much of an excuse not to get to know all these newcomers, especially with so many people leaving....

I'm Horst Cabal. I run a bar, sometimes. I'm going to start a school--everyone is welcome to attend or teach a class.

That's because I can't. I sew like a blind two year old, look at my fingers! [Dotted with a dozen needle marks, which will heal overnight.

He pulls Alice up onto his knee.]

It was one of Cloud's shirts. I know he would have wanted you to have something to hold onto.

Silly man, that is what thimbles are for.

[At being told it was Cloud's shirt she takes it and her mood is a little more somber.]

W-What if he doesn't come back this time?

[His smile fades, and he hugs her tighter.]

...If he doesn't, then we need to remember everything he did for us. And we need to stay strong.

I don't want Cloud, or anyone, leaving to make you stop caring for other people, Alice. There are new people who would love to know you. Cloud would want you to meet them.

It doesn't feel like people want to know me [She gave a small smile.] People are quite content to speak only to adults. But that's what adults tend to do really, they don't think children know anything.
