Shall we take bets on whether or not zombies are the worst thing we'll see this year?

[Horst is lounging on a couch near a fire, a book open and on his chest.]

I realized, with all the new arrivals especially, we have a pool of unusual skills here. Would anyone be willing to teach a few classes? For instance: I could teach...oh, bar tending. Card dealing. Physics and labwork--you know, whatever there is interest for.

The ponies could teach 'Frolicking 101'. The angels could teach 'Offending Someone in Two Words or Less'.

[PRIVATE to RACHEL]

Have you done opera at all?

[Rachel frowns to herself, but only for a moment -- German opera -- Rachel herself has listened to mostly Italian pieces, but sheet music is sheet music, and if she tried -- ]

Well, I never turn down the opportunity for a performance, especially one so noble and important.

[He grins, enough that even his fangs are showing, which he normally hides.]

I would owe you--so much, love. And of course, I could teach you the German words, and how to say them.

[Ooh -- Rachel looks delighted, at that.]

That would be amazing! I would love to learn them. It would help me sing the song a lot better. It should be given proper justice.

[He smiles, gives her a small sheepish wave of his hand]

I asked you because I know you'll handle the material better than anyone here. A lot of people think opera is just about shattering glass with the high C; but it's about the passion that goes into it. Just like any performance, you know?

The Phantom of the Opera is about precisely that.

[It's one of Rachel's all-time favorite productions.]

Without emotion, you are not a true artist. Music is about expression, not sounding pretty.
