Why would they do that? I understand demented, inhuman people do terrible things but--scientists usually have some sort of logic. However twisted.

The company I worked for... wanted power. They generically altered human cells, adding mako and Jenova cells to them to make them stronger, faster, have more endurance.

They wanted to create the perfect SOLDIER.

[It's a common goal. It's one that Horst hates.]

I can't imagine that worked in their favor. ...Were you the only one they did this to...?

All SOLDIERS got mako injections.

But... when we were taken... we were used as text subjects. Me and Zack. As far I know... it had only happened once more.

How did it change you from the other SOLDIERs? [He's surprised to find he's glad that Cloud has Zack; it seems the only thing he can't seem to tolerate is people dealing with things alone.]

[He mulls that over quietly, listening more to how Cloud said that]

I won't argue that. [As infuriating as Cloud is, he can honestly say that he trusts the kid's judgment. If he killed someone, they needed to die.]

I imagine things are better for you here than they were there, yeah?
