[Horst has been up late playing around with the PCD, trying to figure out more of it. But he looks exhausted, and not just because he's tried to stay up.

He puts his hand on the door of his makeshift bedroom, but decides at the last minute not to open it; the sun's still up. Why is it still up?]

Ah, Katara! Hi... [It's hard to tell at this point if he's half-asleep or really drunk]

[She's spied on your other conversations, Horst, sorry. :T This is her worried look.]

Is there anything I can do?

[She hasn't run screaming, so he assumes she either doesn't know what he is or doesn't know what a vampire is]

I'm allergic to sunlight. So, [small laugh] this is all a little bit frustrating. Enjoy it for me, will you? Being out in it, I mean.

[She's only heard bits and pieces -- there's not a whole lot of vampire lore in the water tribes, so she seems more fascinated than afraid.]

Your room -- it's properly sun-proofed, right?

Well...

Not at all, actually. I'm sort of holed up in a closet, of all places. It's not bad when I know the sun will only be up for a few hours, but.... [small shrug]

[WELL that is less than reassuring. The vague concern on her face switches immediately over into worry.]

Where at? Are you - well, safe?

For the moment, I think I am. So long as no one opens the door! [Nervous chuckle] In any case, there's no one here but me and my brother, and no one knows where I live but a few people. I don't think they'd come visiting during the day.

Not that I'm worried [He is but he doesn't want to worry her] but do you happen to have any ideas for locking a very flimsy door?

[FFFT this only reassures her a little bit. ..sorry Horst, but she is kind of fascinated by this whole vampire thing. First that guy outed himself as a werewolf, and now this?]

Is your brother also..?

Also...charming? Intelligent? [he tried, but he's too tired to keep being playful, and his smile is very faint] Like me? No. He's just a human, really.

Cute, too. [THIS IS awkward teenage flirting, yes, but said with the intention of cheering him up and little else.] You could have him put blankets on the windows, maybe. Or I could do it, if you trust me. Maybe you could get to your room like that, at least.

[He doesn't want to explain that Johannes prefers Horst being confined; it keeps him from nosing through the experiments and vials and things]

You'd have to be careful not to be seen. He doesn't particularly want me bringing people back to the house. Especially women. [And he can only imagine what Johannes would say about a teenage girl.]

[Oh, this is going to pain her to say it, but he's trapped in a closet. He sort of needs help, so she swallows her pride and says:] I'm good at being sneaky. And I'm just a kid, anyway.. he doesn't have anything to worry about.

[He smiles, but Johannes will totally think the worst. Also he really will throw Horst out into the sun if she gets caught, so Horst chooses to rely on her potential cat burglar skills]

We live at the old church--the one at [x,y]. He's gone out to get supplies I think.

I'll be there as soon as I can. Um. How will I know how to find you?

There's a hallway at the back of the chapel. It leads down into the basement; I'm behind the, er, only door there.

[He chuckles] I owe you big for this.

I'm on my way.

[She cuts the feed off and, true to her word, starts heading that way with blankets, towels, and whatever else she could find to block off the windows.]

[Horst amused himself with the PCD while he waited, and he tried desperately not to fall asleep.]

[True to her word, Katara had been as sneaky as possible when she came inside, though luckily it seems as if the place were empty. With a majority of the windows blocked and sunlight sufficiently muffled, she gently rapped her knuckles against the door to the room Horst had said he was in.]

[Horst gratefully climbs out and stretches, wincing as his stiff--and generally cold--muscles get some life back in them. Then he looks at Katara and smiles] You, my dear, are a godsend.

[She smiles a little crookedly at him, casting a glance over her shoulder before looking back to him.]

Are you alright? I mean - you're not sick or injured otherwise, are you?
