[Horst has been up late playing around with the PCD, trying to figure out more of it. But he looks exhausted, and not just because he's tried to stay up.

He puts his hand on the door of his makeshift bedroom, but decides at the last minute not to open it; the sun's still up. Why is it still up?]

[It takes him a long, long time to finally answer] I'd prefer someone I know. Especially since this isn't...my 'home'.

Just let me know. I was planning to visit you anyway, to at least give you something to do while you waited.

[Horst amused himself with the PCD while he waited, and he tried desperately not to fall asleep.]

[True to her word, Katara had been as sneaky as possible when she came inside, though luckily it seems as if the place were empty. With a majority of the windows blocked and sunlight sufficiently muffled, she gently rapped her knuckles against the door to the room Horst had said he was in.]

Ohh, chess sounds nice.

[Only Yuca can sound happy while talking about bleeding out] Oh it's very nice, I hear. Much better than being burned to death, but not quite as nice as being stabbed.

Well, I've had both happen, so I think I can be the judge of that.

[His expression softens, but he's not one for pity and he doesn't backpedal] I'm sure this will be much better. Perhaps I'm biased, though.

[He laughs.]

And I'd rather not be the one to send you off to the Animus' hands. They put the sun up permanently, they're clearly a bunch of sociopathic bastards.

[Nonchalant handwave.] They take something from you and plop you right back down like nothing ever happened. I don't even remember the week I was gone.

How do you know what they take...?

You just find out, I suppose. Sometimes- like if they take a memory- you never know. They don't exactly leave a friendly note.

...I guess that's better than some alternatives. You know what they took from you?

But it's hard to explain, and I'm not sure I want you to have that leverage over me yet.

[Horst nods slightly] Fair enough.

[He wants to laugh. He does. But for some reason, even he doesn't think of himself as that cruel.]

[Horst hadn't expected to hear from Cloud, of all people, but the surprise doesn't help him mask how tired he actually is]

[He can be sweet and kind when he wants to be.]

Find some place dark and hide out for the week.

Well, I...may or may not have...ten ninjas after me. And if I sleep I can't wake up until the sun goes down again, and--well, if they find me. [He's tired enough to laugh about it. Good sign?]
