[Horst has been up late playing around with the PCD, trying to figure out more of it. But he looks exhausted, and not just because he's tried to stay up.

He puts his hand on the door of his makeshift bedroom, but decides at the last minute not to open it; the sun's still up. Why is it still up?]

A friend is coming to put up better shades on the windows... It's just hard to stay awake when the sun's up. Once I fall asleep, I die until the sun goes down again.

...then don't. Normal people can't go particularly long without sleep, but I don't know about vampires. Just keep going, keep remembering things, and try not to move around too much.

We used to have these treaties with the local vampires. A few volunteers allowed themselves to be fed on, and in exchange, they weren't hurt more than necessary and everyone else stayed safe.

Hah, well, I've never thought of it that way but yes. I can eat other things but they don't really help.

[Johannes would prefer that to Horst feeding on him, and he reluctantly nods] Do you know any of the volunteers...?
